Workflow readiness

A workstation startup checklist for Suite users

Start Suite sessions with a ready workstation, focused cache and the project access needed for useful work.

Start the session ready to create

A short startup routine helps a Suite workstation reach useful work with fewer setup interruptions. Confirm the account, project access, cache and application environment, then open a known file in the tool you will use. This connects the mounted drive to the actual creative task and gives the team a repeatable way to begin the session.

This team routine builds on Suite’s public setup guidance for an authorized account and supported installation. Use the application-specific guides to prepare the tools your team runs.

Confirm the workstation and connection

Record which machine is running the application. This matters when a laptop controls a remote workstation: checking the laptop alone does not check the host that actually reads the files. Confirm that the host has its expected internet connection and that any required organization controls are functioning.

Suite's performance basics recommend an SSD cache, supported filesystem formatting and a wired connection for demanding work. Check that the intended cache device is attached and has available capacity. Do not reformat a drive, clear shared caches or disable required security controls as a routine startup action; resolve an unexpected configuration with the responsible administrator.

Identify the project before opening it

Keep a small project record with the expected folder, application version, sample file and person responsible for access. Confirm that you are using the intended team account and can see the required project location. If it is missing, report the account and path to the access owner instead of creating an improvised duplicate directory.

For a shared project, also confirm that the application-specific handoff or locking arrangement is understood. Access to a folder alone does not decide who should edit a project at a particular moment.

Read the status, then perform a useful check

Suite's drive-status guide distinguishes Mounting, Uploading and Connected. Mounting indicates connection is in progress. Connected indicates that the drive is mounted and is not currently writing data to the cloud. Record persistent unexpected states before investigating them.

Open an agreed sample in the actual application and perform one harmless, representative action: inspect a frame, open an asset or read an authorized test input. Confirm the expected content rather than using a successful directory listing as the only evidence. A successful sample does not certify every file in the project; it establishes a defined starting point for this session.

Know how the session will finish

Before producing new work, agree on its destination and who will verify receipt. Suite's upload instructions say to confirm completion through Suite Status, with Uploading cleared, Connected shown in green and no errors. Keep the machine connected while an upload is pending. If another person needs the result, verify that person's access separately.

Leave a short readiness note

Record the host, application, project path, observed status, sample checked and any unresolved issue. An agent can use the same structure to report what it actually observed, while leaving credentials and sensitive filenames out of shared reports. If a check fails, name the failed step and its owner; do not describe the session as ready merely because installation completed.

Put the idea to work

Start with your workflow.

Bring shared files into your familiar applications with Suite Managed, or connect your own supported storage with S3 Native. S3 Native requires at least 20 TB of active storage.
