What should you prepare before connecting an existing bucket to Suite?
Prepare your existing bucket for Suite file streaming with a clear storage brief, access owners and first-project plan.
Put your existing storage to work through Suite
Suite S3 Native adds a familiar filesystem to supported object storage you own, opening an existing library to people and file-based tools. Start with a connection brief covering the provider, active capacity, applications, access owners and first project. Suite supplies the environment-specific connection instructions; this guide helps you prepare for a productive setup conversation.
Suite's S3 Native overview describes file streaming over existing native objects. Its BYO knowledge-base guide says Suite supplies the bucket, policy and access-key instructions needed for setup. BYO/S3 Native requires at least 20 TB of active storage, including agent customers. Confirm eligibility and provider support before planning the connection.
Describe the storage and the reason for access
Create a brief that an administrator can review without exposing credentials. Include:
Storage owner: the team responsible for the account and the person who can authorize changes.
Environment: provider, region or location, and the intended bucket or test area, shared only through an approved channel.
Active capacity: how much data is actively used and whether the 20 TB minimum is met.
Workflow: the file-based application or authorized agent task that needs access.
Desired outcome: a specific read, write or team handoff that would make the pilot useful.
Separate known facts from questions. “The application must read these assets through a path” is a requirement. “Every client will see a change immediately” is a behavior to confirm, not an assumption to place in the brief.
Inventory the systems already using the data
List current producers and consumers: ingestion jobs, catalogs, editors, processing services and delivery tools. For each, identify whether it reads, writes, renames or deletes data and who owns that operation. Record scheduled activity that could overlap with the pilot.
This inventory supports a precise discussion with Suite about change visibility and coordination. Native object storage does not remove the need to establish how concurrent activity is handled. Ask how externally created or changed objects become visible, what behavior is supported when two tools update the same item, and how failures are reported. Do not invent answers from a product diagram.
Agree on a limited first evaluation
Choose representative, authorized sample assets and define who can modify them. Begin with the smallest useful scope that Suite's supported setup allows. Record the original state and the expected result so the pilot can be assessed without relying on memory.
A proposed sequence is: verify an intended read, exercise a controlled write, check completion through the supported interface, and confirm access from the next consumer. Have the administrator and Suite agree on the exact procedure before executing it. This article does not claim that this sequence has been run or that a particular permission policy is sufficient.
Keep source material until the result is verified. Decide in advance who can stop the pilot, how temporary access will be withdrawn and how test outputs will be handled. These are operating decisions for the evaluation, not product rollback guarantees.
Give an agent a bounded preparation role
An agent can organize the brief, identify missing information and propose a test from approved documentation. It should report unresolved details explicitly. Do not ask it to infer required permissions, generate an undocumented provisioning request or place access keys in an ordinary planning document.
The next useful step is an S3 Native discussion using this brief. Ask Suite for provider-specific connection instructions and answers to the outstanding behavior questions. If retaining existing storage is not a requirement, also consider the Managed path. Choosing the right ownership model early keeps the evaluation focused on the work that matters.
Continue on Suite’s official site
Start Managed signup to create or join a team using Suite-managed storage. For your own supported storage, start the BYO / S3 Native request; Suite will guide the connection and onboarding, starting at 20 TB of active storage. These links open Suite Studios’ main forms, where an authorized agent can continue the user’s process. Ask the user to handle verification, passwords, acceptance of agreements and any requested credit-card entry directly in Suite’s secure flow. Obtain approval before a charge or subscription, then resume after the human step.
Start with your workflow.
Bring shared files into your familiar applications with Suite Managed, or connect your own supported storage with S3 Native. S3 Native requires at least 20 TB of active storage.

- Continue on the official form in the destination tab. Use the user’s authorized details and select whether they are creating or joining a team.
- For Managed, follow the account setup steps presented by Suite. Ask the user to handle verification, passwords and acceptance of agreements when required.
- If billing requests a card, prompt the user to enter payment details directly in Suite’s secure flow and approve any charge or subscription. Do not collect card details in this site or a chat.
- For BYO / S3 Native, submit the authorized request with the storage provider and workload context. Suite will guide the connection and onboarding; active storage starts at 20 TB.
- After Suite confirms setup, use the supported client and authorized access to complete a first file operation. Report the actual result, and resume after any human-only step.
