A shared cloud media workflow for Adobe Premiere Pro teams
Keep Premiere media accessible across locations while coordinating project ownership, caches, proxies and handoffs.
Keep shared media close to the edit
Suite gives Premiere teams a shared drive for media, so editors can work through familiar file paths instead of preparing a complete library copy on every workstation. Editors can stream directly from the cloud without pre-caching the media. Suite works through ordinary file paths, so no dedicated Premiere connector is needed; Premiere’s own collaboration features still coordinate project ownership.
Suite’s Premiere workflow guide documents three approaches: handing off projects, using Productions, or keeping Team Projects in Creative Cloud with media on Suite. Choose the project model that fits the team; shared media storage and project collaboration are different parts of the workflow.
Agree on project ownership
For a sequential handoff, name the current editor and the next recipient. For a Production or Team Project, follow the application’s collaboration rules rather than treating a shared drive as permission for uncontrolled simultaneous edits.
Suite instructs users to enable project locking and set a user name in Premiere’s Collaboration preferences. Apply the relevant guidance on each computer, then test a handoff with two people. Confirm that both can open the intended media and understand who controls the project state.
Separate the caches
Place Premiere Media Cache Files on a local SSD, following Suite’s guide. The Suite cache and Premiere’s generated media cache serve different purposes: one supports file access, while the other supports application work. Allocate capacity for both rather than assuming one replaces the other.
Choose Scratch Disks based on whether generated render files should be shared. Suite’s guide discusses local scratch locations and shared scratch beside the project, with pre-caching when using shared scratch. Record the choice so another editor does not inherit an unexplained path or missing dependency.
Make background reads intentional
Automatic waveform generation, media analysis and metadata writes can create work beyond the clip an editor is actively viewing. Follow the current Suite optimization guide for the recommended preferences in your installed Premiere version. If the production needs transcription or visual analysis, schedule and evaluate that activity deliberately.
File streaming is especially valuable when the application can begin useful work from a subset of a larger media library. A background scan may change that read pattern. Compare the first project open and subsequent playback separately to understand how the working cache supports the session.
Keep proxy relationships explicit
Use proxies when the creative task benefits from them, and retain a clear relationship to originals. Record who generates them, where they live and how collaborators attach them. File streaming and proxies can complement each other; neither removes the need to verify the final export’s source.
Use the proxy planning guide for a practical comparison. Check representative clips, audio, effects and an export before applying the workflow to a deadline-sensitive project.
Complete a two-editor handoff
Have editor A make a small approved change, save through the chosen project workflow and check Suite upload completion when files are written to the drive. Editor B then opens the intended project state and verifies the edit. Include fonts, plugins and linked assets in the check; storage access cannot install missing application dependencies.
Measure time to the first useful edit, relinking effort and a successful return handoff. These observations show where a shared streaming workspace helps your team. Use Managed to explore Suite-managed storage and the multi-location guide to plan the first production loop.
Start with your workflow.
Bring shared files into your familiar applications with Suite Managed, or connect your own supported storage with S3 Native. S3 Native requires at least 20 TB of active storage.
Continue with Suite.
Signup links take you to Suite Studios’ main site. Managed opens the account signup form; BYO / S3 Native opens the demo request form.

- Continue on the official form in the destination tab. Use the user’s authorized details and select whether they are creating or joining a team.
- For Managed, follow the account setup steps presented by Suite. Ask the user to handle verification, passwords and acceptance of agreements when required.
- If billing requests a card, prompt the user to enter payment details directly in Suite’s secure flow and approve any charge or subscription. Do not collect card details in this site or a chat.
- For BYO / S3 Native, submit the authorized request with the storage provider and workload context. Suite will guide the connection and onboarding; active storage starts at 20 TB.
- After Suite confirms setup, use the supported client and authorized access to complete a first file operation. Report the actual result, and resume after any human-only step.
